ESTATE SALES

Estate sales have been known to treasure hunters for years.
Estate sales occur when someone dies and leaves all their
belongings behind. Some people are unfortunate not to have
a family so when they pass, they leave all their things
behind. This is not always the case though.

For the grieving family of the lost one, estate sales can
be a difficult time, watching cherished memories pass on to
a new owner with the simple exchange of cash. However,
many times trying to disperse of all the personal
belongings is more than family members can take on so an
estate sale is a blessing in disguise.

An auctioneer is usually called on to run an estate sale.
They will work with you to determine how much everything
that is to be sold will go for. Estate sales can include
everything from furniture, jewelry, dishes and silverware,
clothes and just about everything within the home that is
not nailed down.

You will visit some estate sales where items are out in the
yard on display. As you approach, you get a chance to see
what there is and what if anything, you want to buy or bid
on. However, if the deceased person had a large
accumulation, then you will also see estate sales where the
doors of the home are opened and everyone walks through,
opening cabinets, drawers, closets, and so on to see what
items are there.

For the buyer, estate sales can be a huge treasure hunt.
In addition to great bargains in most cases, it is common
to find things of value that someone else missed. For
instance, one man visited estate sales all the time,
looking for those special finds. On one particular trip,
he found a box that had some old items that he collected.
To him, this was a real find. When bidding on that box
began, he set his price and won. Unbeknownst to him, when
he arrived home and took everything out of the box, he
discovered a beautiful man's diamond ring in the bottom -
the cost of the box - $15.

If you love bargain hunting and have an appreciation for
antiques, rare dishes, or just enjoy "shopping" in other
people's things, then estate sales would be something you
would likely enjoy. You would be amazed at what things
are sold. Again, you will find not just personal
belongings but also homes, cars, boats, and other larger
ticket items.
